Alabama’s thinner-than-normal recruiting class added a four-star linebacker on Thursday.
Ian Jackson of Prattville became the sixth commit to UA’s 2021 recruiting class, the second at the linebacker position. Jackson is rated as a top 10 prospect in the state in the 247 Sports Composite.
Jackson joins another in-state prospect, Mobile Christian’s Deontae Lawson, as projected future linebackers in the UA class.
The small nature of UA’s class had kept it far below its typical ranking; Jackson’s commitment jumped the Crimson Tide from 48th to 33rd.
UA may not be done with the best talent in the state. The top prospect, cornerback Ga’Quincy McKinstry, is the subject of a highly contested recruitment which UA is involved in; there is also defensive lineman Tim Keenan of Birmingham as a UA target.
