If Chadarius Townsend is to find a permanent home at a position, he will be doing so somewhere other than the University of Alabama.

The UA redshirt junior wide receiver has entered the transfer portal, as first reported by AL.com. Townsend spent most of his UA career bouncing between running back and wide receiver with little true traction at both; if this is the end of his UA career, it will end with no receptions and eight carries for 22 yards.

Townsend was listed as scheduled to graduate in May, giving him a chance at immediate eligibility as a graduate transfer.

Townsend was listed as a wide receiver on the 2020 roster, a position that just lost Tyrell Shavers to Mississippi State as a graduate transfer. As UA looks to fill its receiving corps around returners Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle, it will have sophomores John Metchie III, Slade Bolden and Xavier Williams along with freshmen Thaiu Jones-Bell and Traeshon Holden.
