The Alabama Crimson Tide currently sits with the 11th-ranked 2019 football recruiting class, according to the 247Sports.com Composite rankings. The class of committed recruits, which features one five-star and three four-star prospects, is currently the sixth-best in the SEC.
It may be too early to focus on the team rankings, as there is plenty of time for Alabama and other schools to add new commits, it’s never to early to look at the class Nick Saban and his staff are compiling.. The four prospects, one on offense and three on defense, have the highest average score of prospects, ahead of every team currently in the top 10.
Here is a look at UA’s 2019 commits:
Pierce Quick
Offensive tackle
6-5, 285 pounds
Trussville, Alabama
Of note: Quick is the 25th-overall ranked prospect in the 2019 class. He is the second-ranked prospect in the state of Alabama and the No. 4 overall offensive tackle. Quick committed to Alabama on April 22, 2017. He was offered by the Crimson Tide last February. Quick has visited Alabama (unofficially or officially) at least 15 times. After his latest visit in early March, Quick announced on Twitter he was shutting down his recruitment. He has wanted to play for Alabama since he was a kid and plans on helping with the recruitment of other prospects in the 2019 class.
King Mwikuta
Outside Linebacker
6-4, 232 pounds
LaGrange, Georgia
Of note: Mwikuta first visited Alabama for its Junior Day on Jan. 28, 2017. The same day, he received an offer from the Crimson Tide. After receiving offers from Auburn, Florida, LSU, Florida State and many other schools, Mwikuta committed to Alabama on Dec. 15, 2017. The outside linebacker is solid on his Alabama pledge and plans to play a recruiting role for the Crimson Tide. He is the 78th-ranked prospect in the 2019 class and the fourth-ranked outside linebacker.
Brandon Turnage
Athlete
6-1, 185 pounds
Oxford, Mississippi
Of note: Turnage has been committed to the Alabama class since Dec. 22, 2017. He was offered a scholarship by Alabama after he attended an Alabama camp on June 17 of that year. Turnage is the 114th-ranked prospect in the 2019 class and the ninth-ranked athlete. Turnage has called Auburn his dream school in the past and he unofficially visited the Tigers on Feb. 3. Though he is listed as an athlete, Turnage is likely to play cornerback at the college level.
Brendan Gant
Safety
6-2, 185 pounds
Lakeland, Florida
Of note: Gant committed to Alabama over Florida State on Dec. 21, 2017. Alabama offered Gant, the fifth-ranked safety in the 2019 class, on Oct. 15, 2017. Since committing to Alabama, his recruitment has been mostly quiet. At the time he committed, he sounded confident that he was not going to look around and that Alabama was where he was going to play his college football. Gant is the 130th-ranked prospect in the 2019 class and is the second secondary prospect committed to the class.
