Tevita Musika, a defensive tackle from the College of San Mateo JC in California, has signed with the University of Alabama as part of its 2018 football recruiting class.

Musika (6-foot-2, 350 pounds) visited Alabama’s practices last weekend. He did not sign in the February signing period in order to concentrate on academic improvement that would allow him to be immediately eligible for the upcoming season. Musika will have three years of eligibility to play two from the Crimson Tide.

A cousin of University of Washington All-American Vita Vea, Musika played at Milpitas, Cal., High School before signing with the College of San Mateo.

His sophomore year highlights are available on his Hudl page.

Alabama’s defensive line recruiting also received good news earlier in the week when defensive tackle Christian Barmore of Philadelphia, one of the nation’s Top 100 prospects, indicated on his Twitter account that he had achieved the necessary ACT score to be eligible in the fall.

Alabama’s 2018 class was ranked No. 7 by 247Sports on National Signing Day. The Crimson Tide had 19 signees.
