The Alabama football program had a strong week in recruiting this past week. On Thursday, Alabama landed two four-star recruits at two positions of need for its 2019 class.

The Crimson Tide landed defensive tackle Rashad Cheney Jr and quarterback Paul Tyson both committed in the same afternoon. Tyson is the great-grandson of former Alabama legendary coach Paul W. “Bear” Bryant.

Here is the latest on Alabama’s recruiting prospects. All star ratings and rankings come from the 247Sports composite:

  • The top-ranked prospect in the 2019 class, Kayvon Thibodeaux, posted pictures from his Tuscaloosa visit on Sunday. The weak-side defensive end is seen as a USC lean, but said he enjoyed his Alabama visit. He later tweeted he could be making his decision soon.

  • Junior college safety Jaquan Brisker announced he received an offer from Alabama last Monday. Brisker is the top-ranked JUCO safety in the JUCO 2019 class and the No. 7 overall JUCO player, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He is seen as a Penn State lean according to crystal ball predictions.

  • Michael Mayer, a tight end in the 2020 class, received an Alabama offer last week. The 6-5, 235-pound prospect is a four-star prospect and the fourth-ranked tight end prospect in the class, according to 247Sports rankings.

  • Wide receiver John Metchie received an Alabama offer on Tuesday. The four-star pass-catcher is the No. 39 receiver and the No. 5 prospect in the state of Maryland in the 2019 class.

  • Three-star running back Kenan Christon received an offer from Alabama on Tuesday. The crystal balls predict the running back could be headed to in-state Stanford.

  • Keith Maguire, a three-star recruit in the 2019 class, posted a picture of himself in an Alabama uniform, standing next to the National Championship trophy. The linebacker prospect also has strong interest from Notre Dame, Ohio State and Clemson.

  • Offensive guard Dontae Lucas named Alabama among his top eight teams on Wednesday on Twitter. The four-star prospect unofficially visited Florida this weekend and attended Miami’s junior day on March 24. The crystal balls indicate he could be headed to Florida State.

  • Five-star prospect Faatui Tuitele finally visited Alabama this week and received the offer that everyone has been anticipating. Tuitele is the No. 24 overall prospect and the No. 2 defensive tackle in the 2019 class.

  • DJ Dale named his top five on Thursday and Alabama made the cut. The three-star defensive tackle from Pinson is the 14th-ranked prospect in Alabama and the 26th-ranked defensive tackle in the 2019 class.

  • Class of 2020 inside linebacker Geron Hargon posted pictures from his visit to Tuscaloosa on Saturday. Hargon currently holds one offer, from Mississippi State.

  • Strong-side defensive end Jaren Handy posted pictures on Twitter of his visit to T-Town on Saturday. The four-star prospect is the No. 96 overall prospect and the sixth-ranked at his position in the 2019 class.

  • Despite getting a quarterback commit earlier this week, Alabama hosted Knox Kadum, another 2019 quarterback, on Saturday. 247Sports ranks Kadum as the 24th pro-style quarterback in his class.

  • 2019 offensive guard Kamaar Bell visited and received an offer from the Alabama Crimson Tide this weekend. Bell also holds an offer from South Alabama.

  • Four-star safety Jarrian Jones also posted pictures from his Alabama visit this weekend. Jones, the 28th-ranked safety in the 2019 class will visit Oklahoma next weekend.

Basketball:

  • Four-star point guard Kira Lewis posted a picture of the entire Alabama coaching staff at his house on Thursday. Lewis, who scored 35 points in a game the AHSAA Final Four last month, also hosted Baylor, Georgia and Tennessee at his home this week.
