Alabama landed the commitment of 2019 wide receiver John Metchie on Friday afternoon. Metchie made the announcement in a video on his Twitter account.

Metchie is listed as the No. 42 wide receiver in the class of 2019 in the 247Sports Composite. He’s a four-star recruit and the No. 276 overall player in the class.
He’s the third commitment in the class from the state of Maryland, along with safety DeMarcco Hellams and inside linebacker Shane Lee. All three were recruited by offensive coordinator Mike Locksley.
Metchie is the first wide receiver in the class for the Crimson Tide. He’s listed at 6-foot and 195 pounds.
Metchie is the 19th commitment for Alabama’s 2019 class. His commitment keeps the class at No. 1 in the 247Sports Composite ratings. Alabama previously secured the commitment of defensive end Byron Young in the late night hours of July 3 earlier this week.
