For months, offensive line has been a cause for concern in Alabama’s 2021 recruiting class. The Brockermeyer family turned it into a strength in a matter of minutes.
Tommy and James Brockermeyer — twins from All Saints Episcopal School in Fort Worth, Texas — committed to UA Friday afternoon. Tommy is the top tackle in the 2021 class and James is the top center; Tommy is a five-star and James a four-star, all ratings according to the 247 Sports Composite.
JC Latham, a five-star tackle from IMG Academy, was previously the only offensive line commit in UA’s 2021 class. In adding the Brockermeyer twins, UA now has two of the top five offensive linemen in the class (Tommy Brockermeyer No. 1 and Latham No. 5) and the top center (James Brockermeyer).
Adding the Brockermeyer twins was important as they entered Friday as two of just 12 uncommitted linemen in the 247 Sports Composite’s top 30. UA may not be done at the position: it is involved in the recruitments of Amarius Mims, Tristan Leigh and Terrence Ferguson, all uncommitted linemen rated as top 10 linemen in the 247 Sports Composite.
In choosing UA, the twins turned away a strong Texas legacy in their family: their grandfather Kay and father Jack both played for Texas, and their brother Luke is currently a linebacker for the Longhorns.
With the addition of Tommy Brockermeyer, UA now holds commitments from three of the top 20 recruits in the nation (Latham and wide receiver Jacorey Brooks from Miami) and four of the top 50 (edge defender Dallas Turner from Fort Lauderdale, Florida).
