Sophomore running back B.J. Emmons and sophomore defensive back Aaron Robinson intend to transfer from the University of Alabama football program, The Tuscaloosa News learned.
AL.com first reported the news Thursday afternoon.
Emmons played in seven games in 2016, rushing for 173 yards and a touchdown on 35 carries. The North Carolina native suffered a season-ending foot injury midway through the season.
Emmons was one of six highly-touted scholarship running backs that went through spring practice. Asked about all of those running backs at the recently-concluded SEC Media Days, Nick Saban said “there’s only one ball, so they can’t all run it at the same time.”
Robinson was a reserve defensive back as a freshman in 2016. He played in 13 games, compiling five tackles, including a tackle for loss.
Robinson expressed his desire to transfer from Alabama in a since-deleted social media post two weeks ago.
