Alabama is the unanimous No. 1 team heading into the 2017 college football season. The Crimson Tide topped the AP top 25 released on Monday.
Alabama had previously been named the No. 1 team in the coaches’ poll. This is the fourth time UA has been the No. 1 team in the preseason AP poll under Nick Saban.
Ohio State came in second, the same ranking it holds in the coaches’ poll. Florida State, Alabama’s first opponent, checked in at third. Defending national champion Clemson ranks fifth.
Alabama will play four teams ranked in the preseason poll. In addition to FSU, LSU ranks 12th, Auburn is 13th and Tennessee is 24th. There are six total SEC teams ranked in the top 25. Georgia checks in at No. 15 and Florida is 16th.
