Alabama opened as a one-point favorite against Clemson in Las Vegas despite making the playoff as the No. 4 overall seed.
The Crimson Tide was also favored to win the national championship among the field of four teams. Alabama was a slight favorite over Clemson and Oklahoma, with Georgia trailing behind those three teams.

Alabama’s 2/1 odds work out to 33%. Clemson, at 11-5, works out to 31.25%. Oklahoma’s 11/4 odds equate to 26.7%, and Georgia’s 7/2 are about 22.2%.
This is the third straight postseason meeting between Alabama and Clemson. The Crimson Tide won the 2015 national championship 45-40 in Phoenix, then lost 35-31 in Tampa in the 2016 national championship.
Alabama remained one of the favorites to win the championship even after its loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl that brought its postseason fate into doubt.
