Alabama landed one of the most highly-sought recruits in the country on Wednesday when 5-star defensive end Eyabi Anoma committed to the Crimson Tide.
Anoma is the No. 7 overall recruit in the country in the 2018 class and a five-star prospect. He’s the No. 2 recruit at his position and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Maryland, according to the 247Sports Composite.
“I’m gonna Roll Tide,” Anoma said on ESPN as he revealed an Alabama t-shirt.
Anoma chose Alabama over Michigan and Maryland. He’s the first five-star commitment of the class for Alabama and the 19th member of the recruiting class.
“It’s the Saban era,” Anoma said on ESPN. “Time in and time out, he just produces top-notch players that compete at a high level. I want to go there and compete at a high level. Nothing is going to be given to me. I like competing against the top people in the country. That’s why I’m going — so I can get top-notch competition.”
Wide receivers coach Mike Locksley was the primary recruiter for Anoma.
His commitment moves Alabama up to No. 5 in the 247Sports team rankings.
