The team worked outside on a nice day in Tuscaloosa. The newest commitment, Paul Tyson, was spotted in the football building after practice. Of course, Tyson is the grandson of legendary coach Paul W. “Bear” Bryant. Here is what I saw during the viewing period.
Quarterbacks
Jalen Hurts was working on read options. He was essentially going through the motion of the exchange between he and the running ball before pulling the ball and running left. Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones also went through the drill.
Defensive line
The unit worked in pairs with Raekwon Davis and Isaiah Buggs first up followed by Quinnen Williams and LaBryan Ray, Johnny Dwight and Phidarian Mathis. Stephon Wynn worked with a walk on.
Jerry Jeudy and Trevon Diggs were not spotted. Jeudy injured his knee and had surgery. Saban did not give a timetable for his return. The wide receivers worked in the following order. Henry Ruggs III, Xavian Marks, Tyrell Shavers and Derek Kief. DeVonta Smith was back with the defensive backs, at least during the viewing period.
