New contracts were approved for all 10 Alabama assistant football coaches on Monday during a teleconference of the compensation committee of the university’s board of trustees.
The 10 on-field assistants have salaries totaling $5,957,552 for this coming season. That’s actually a slight decrease from last year’s total of received salaries totaling $5,995,000 to make it the highest paid in the nation.
Offensive coordinator Mike Locksley led the way with a new three-year deal worth $1.2 million annually. His salary last season as Alabama’s wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator was $600,000.
New defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi received a three-year deal worth $1.1 million. He was paid $950,000 in salary last season as outside linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator.
Defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski’s two-year contract worth $750,000 annually was also approved. Kuligowski is in his first season after arriving from Miami.
Co-defensive coordinator Pete Golding, who will coach the inside linebackers, received a three-year contract worth $650,000 per year. Golding is in his first year on staff after spending two years as defensive coordinator at Texas-San Antonio.
Wide receivers coach Josh Gattis received a two-year deal worth $525,000 annually. He spent the last four seasons at Penn State.
Offensive line coach Brent Key received a raise from $400,000 last season to $490,000 this year. He’s entering his third year with the program.
Running backs coach Joe Pannunzio received a raise from $375,000 last season to $425,000 this season. He coached tight ends last season.
Defensive backs coach Karl Scott received a two-year deal worth $350,000. He spent the last two seasons coaching the secondary at Texas Tech.
Special teams coordinator Jeff Banks‘ three-year deal is worth $267,552 this season as he receives a buyout from Texas A&M. His salary rises to $550,000 in the second and third years of the contract.
Quarterbacks coach Dan Enos also received a three-year deal that will increase when his buyout from Arkansas expires. He’ll receive $200,000 this season, then $250,000 in 2019 and $875,000 in the final season.
Among off-field staffers, strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran received a new three-year deal that increased his salary from $535,000 annually to $585,000. Head athletic trainer Jeff Allen received a three-year deal worth $225,000.
The committee also approved a new four-year contract for soccer coach Wes Hart. It runs through January 31, 2022 and is worth $150,000.
