Alabama will host Southern Miss for a home game in 2019 and Western Kentucky in 2023, according to contracts obtained by The Tuscaloosa News through a records request.
The Southern Miss game is scheduled for Sept. 21, 2019 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Alabama will pay Southern Miss $1.85 million for the game. The Crimson Tide’s on-field record against the Golden Eagles is 36-6-2, though Alabama forfeited a win in 1993 and vacated a win in 2005. They last met in 2014, when Alabama won 52-12. The two teams played 23 times between 1980 and 2005.
The Southern Miss game completes Alabama’s nonconference schedule for 2019. Alabama will face Duke in Atlanta for the season opener and also has home games scheduled against New Mexico State and Western Carolina.
Western Kentucky will make its fourth trip to Tuscaloosa on Sept. 9, 2023. Alabama will pay the Hilltoppers $1.9 million for the matchup; $900,000 is due by June 30 of that year and the remainder is due 90 days after the game. This is the first nonconference game Alabama has scheduled for the 2023 season.
Alabama is 3-0 against Western Kentucky with wins in Tuscaloosa in 2008, 2012 and 2016. The Hilltoppers moved up to the FBS level in 2008.
The buyout for each game is $1 million.
Details for Alabama’s home-and-home series against Notre Dame and a 2022 home game against Utah State were announced earlier in the week.
