Texas A&M started Saturday’s game in Bryant-Denny Stadium with the ball, but after two plays and an interception from Alabama linebacker Mack Wilson, the Crimson Tide offense took over the field at the 30-yard line. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa came out and tossed up a pass to wide receiver DeVonta Smith in the end zone. Smith made a diving catch to score.

The Crimson Tide has won 18 consecutive games when scoring a touchdown on its first drive, including the first three of this season. Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy caught an 11-yard touchdown pass against Louisville to get things going. Jeudy then caught a 58-yarder against Arkansas State. And then last week, running back Damien Harris had a 43-yard scoring run against Ole Miss.
The 2014 Allstate Sugar Bowl versus Oklahoma was the last time Alabama scored immediately on offense and then ultimately lost the game.
