It was a short open period today to start the week, though we’ll hopefully get some more time on Tuesday and Wednesday. Alabama practice inside on turf today in preparation for Saturday’s SEC championship game. Otherwise, this was a standard Monday practice with helmets but no pads.

Here are some quick notes from the open period:

  • Outside linebacker Terrell Lewis, who injured his ACL in July, was back at practice and working with his position group today. He has not played this season.
  • Lewis was not wearing a black noncontact jersey (note: the above picture is from spring, not today), though that comes with a couple caveats. Since there were no pads on, there won’t be much contact anyway at practice. Also, Alabama has used black jerseys less this season during the viewing period. That doesn’t mean guys don’t put the jerseys on after we leave from our five-minute period.
  • Because there are only a potential three games left this season, Lewis could return at any point and still redshirt. I’m sure Nick Saban will be asked about whether he can play the next time he speaks to the media.
  • Otherwise, senior defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs (hyperextended knee) was practicing as well.

That’s all for today. But something tells me you probably liked what you heard anyway.
