Six members of the Crimson Tide earned player of the week honors from the University of Alabama coaching staff for their performances in the 62-10 win over New Mexico State.
Two wide receivers — Jerry Jeudy and DeVonta Smith — were the offensive selections. Jeudy had eight catches for 103 yards and three touchdowns. He is now fourth in the nation with 18 catches, 11th with 240 yards and tied for fourth with four touchdowns.
Smith caught five passes for 47 yards; three of his five receptions went for first downs.
Linebacker Anfernee Jennings and safety Xavier McKinney were defensive selections for the second consecutive week, joining cornerback Trevon Diggs on this week’s list. McKinney’s six tackles were tied for the team high, Diggs added four tackles and one of Jennings’ three tackles was a sack for a loss of seven yards. Jennings also had two quarterback hurries.
Kicker Will Reichard made two field goals, 49 and 48 yards, and all eight of his point-after attempts to earn special teams player of the week honors. He also handled all kickoffs and punted once.
