It’s a rare Thursday practice viewing, with this being an open week and the practices being a day behind schedule with the off day on Monday. The University of Alabama was indoors today — and with good measure, as rain started about 30 minutes after practice did.

– As you can see in the video below, wide receiver Henry Ruggs III (hip pointer) was involved in position drills for the first time this week. I wouldn’t say he was full speed, but with two to three days of little to no physical activity coming up, he’ll get plenty of rest to get there.

– Starting center Chris Owens was not with the offensive linemen in drills today. Kendall Randolph was with the linemen while the tight ends were running routes with the quarterbacks, which goes along with his hybrid tight end/offensive lineman role. If depth is needed, Randolph can be that depth.

– D.J. Dale was with the defensive linemen but not participating. UA coach Nick Saban said in his Wednesday evening press conference that Dale would likely practice either today or tomorrow, so it seems tomorrow is the choice.
