The University of Alabama has now retained a wide receiver and lost a wide receiver in the same day.
Hours after junior DeVonta Smith announced his intent to stay at Alabama for a senior season, Henry Ruggs III announced on Instagram that he will declare for the 2020 NFL Draft.
Ruggs ends his UA career third in school history in receiving touchdowns, behind only Amari Cooper and teammate Jerry Jeudy, who will also be in the 2020 NFL Draft. Ruggs ended his career with a 40-catch, 746-yard and seven-touchdown season, all of those marks third on the team.
Ruggs suffered a concussion in the Citrus Bowl, what is now the final game of his UA career. It forced him to exit the game early with two catches for 27 yards.
Ruggs was one of just 21 receivers in the nation this year to have two or more receptions of 70 yards or more.
