Alabama’s primary target between the two signing periods has been McKinnley Jackson, a four-star defensive lineman, who signed Wednesday morning with Texas A&M.
Jackson, from George County High School in Lucedale, Mississippi, took an official visit to College Station last weekend. Alabama coach Nick Saban, defensive coordinator Pete Golding and defensive line coach Freddie Roach — who has yet to be officially announced by UA — visited the Jackson family in Lucedale last week.
UA announced the signing of wide receiver Javon Baker and defensive tackle Jamir Burroughs on Wednesday morning. Baker and Burroughs were teammates at Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern High School.
Jayson Jones, of Calera, announced a final four of UA, Baylor, Georgia Tech and Oregon. His signing ceremony is at 2 p.m.; his most recent official visit and in-home visit were with the Ducks. He had previously committed to Alabama but elected to continue visiting other schools
UA has already added to its class between the signing dates, securing grad transfer tight end Carl Tucker from North Carolina.
Those current commits and the addition of Tucker gives UA little room to secure players who have yet to commit or are currently committed elsewhere. If UA does so, it may have to rely on the transfer portal to even out its scholarship numbers. It has already lost two scholarship players to the transfer portal: running back Jerome Ford, now at Cincinnati, and offensive tackle Scott Lashley, now at Mississippi State.
UA also hosted visits from Sedrick Van Pran, an offensive lineman committed to Georgia, and Ennis Rakestraw, a cornerback from Texas who signed with Missouri on Wednesday.
