Three former University of Alabama football players, who also played for the defunct Birmingham Iron in the Alliance of American Football League this season, have signed with NFL teams.

Offensive linemen J.C. Hassenauer is with the Pittsburgh Steelers, long snapper Cole Mazza is with the Los Angeles Chargers and offensive lineman Brandon Greene is with the Carolina Panthers.

Hassenauer signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent in 2018. He was released by the Falcons, but added to the practice squad where he spent part of the season. He started every game for Birmingham in 2019.

Mazza was at Alabama from 2013-16.

Greene was an undrafted rookie with the Chicago Bears in 2017 and was called up late in the season from the practice squad but didn’t appear in a game. He was waived at the end of training camp in 2018. He also started every game for the Iron.
