Graduate transfer point guard James “Beetle” Bolden committed to Alabama on Sunday morning after visiting campus over the weekend.

Bolden announced his decision on his Twitter account.

Bolden will arrive at Alabama with one season of eligibility remaining after spending the last four years at West Virginia. He redshirted during the 2015-16 season after tearing his ACL and played the last three seasons.

Bolden gives Alabama a veteran presence at point guard to accompany Kira Lewis Jr., who will return for his sophomore season. He was a starter for the Mountaineers when he was healthy, though a high ankle sprain ended his 2018-19 season early.

He averaged 12.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists this season in 18 games with 12 starts. He’s a career 40 percent 3-point shooter.

Bolden is Alabama’s second commit under new coach Nate Oats. High school center Raymond Hawkins previously committed to Alabama.

Point guard Dazon Ingram and center Daniel Giddens chose to enter the NCAA’s transfer portal after the season to explore their opportunities for their final season. They have not removed their names and are eligible to play immediately in 2019-20 as graduate transfers.
