OKLAHOMA CITY – Alabama softball alum Haylie McCleney and rising sophomore Montana Fouts are among the 30 invitees to the USA Olympic selection trials to determine the 2020 Olympic roster.

The invitees will vie for 15 roster spots as well as three replacement athlete roles. Selection trials will be held Oct. 1-6 in Oklahoma City before the final roster is unveiled on Oct. 8.

McCleney, a four-time All-American and 2016 Crimson Tide graduate, is currently in her sixth-consecutive season competing for Team USA. Most recently, the group won gold at this year’s USA Softball International Cup, where McCleney led the team at the plate with a .481 batting average and six runs scored. The Red, White and Blue will look for another title next week in Lima, Peru at the Pan American Games.

Fouts is competing with the U-19 National Team this summer following a successful freshman campaign with the Crimson Tide as the SEC Freshman of the Year. She helped lead the U-19 squad to a third-place showing at the International Cup with one earned run allowed across 16.2 innings pitched, including a complete-game shutout over Puerto Rico on July 6. She also earned a win with 3.0 shutout innings vs. Japan at the Achille Challenge and went nine-up, nine-down over 3.0 innings against Ireland. The U-19 team returns to action Aug. 11-17 at the World Baseball Softball Confederation U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup in Irvine, Calif.
