Sophomore outfielder Chandler Taylor was named the SEC Player of the Week on Monday, the league office announced.

Taylor led Alabama offensively in its weekend sweep at No. 4 Auburn. In three games against the Tigers, he was 7 for 14 with three home runs, two doubles, five runs and three RBIs while drawing three walks. He led the Crimson Tide in every offensive category this weekend.

He was 4 for 6 on Sunday in the series finale that lasted 15 innings, blasting a home run in extra innings. Taylor is tied for second in the conference with 15 home runs.

Taylor is the first UA player to earn a weekly honor from the conference this season. He leads the team with 35 runs and is tied for the lead with 31 RBIs. He leads the team with a .607 slugging percentage and is batting .280 this year after his weekend performance.

“I’ve just seen him continue to grow,” head coach Greg Goff said. “He started most every game last year and started most every game this year. You can’t put a price tag on experience. He just continues to develop as a hitter. He’s one of the most talented hitters I’ve ever had as a coach.”
