The University of Alabama’s 2017 schedule includes 15 home matches, two home tournaments and road tournaments at Purdue and South Alabama. UA released the schedule Wednesday.
Alabama will open the season at the Mortar Board Premier Tournament hosted by Purdue in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Crimson Tide will face Cleveland State, Oral Roberts and the host Boilermakers. The following weekend, Alabama takes on South Alabama, Southern Miss, and McNeese State at the Jaguar Invitational in Mobile.
Alabama will host the Bama Bash and Crimson-White tournaments. Furman and Tennessee State will come to Tuscaloosa for the Bama Bash, with Southern, Troy and Murray State visiting the following week for the Crimson-White event.
“We are extremely excited about our preseason schedule that has us opening at Purdue and playing two NCAA Tournament teams in Purdue and Cleveland State,” UA coach Ed Allen said. “We believe our preseason schedule will help us prepare for the start of SEC play, which we open at Georgia.
“In all, we will play 10 teams that qualified for postseason play.”
Alabama will face a challenging 19-match SEC schedule. UA will host reigning SEC champion Florida on Oct. 20 and also have home-and-home sets with both Kentucky and Missouri, who were second- and third-best in the SEC a season ago.
Five of UA’s last seven games will be played at home.
