LONDON – On Sunday at the 2017 IAAF World Championships, two University of Alabama track and field athletes who are representing Trinidad and Tobago will compete. Domonique Williams will begin competition in the women’s 400 meters and Ruebin Walters in the men’s 110-meter hurdles.
On Saturday, former Alabama All-American Alex Amankwah, representing Ghana, finished fourth in his heat in 1:47.56 in the opening round of the men’s 800 meters and narrowly missed advancing to the semifinals. Another former Crimson Tide athlete, Jamaica’s Steven Gayle, was disqualified from his first round heat in the men’s 400 meters. Gayle will run on Jamaica’s 4×400-meter relay team on Aug. 12.
