The Alabama women’s soccer team battled to a 2-1 victory over Samford to improve to 2-0 on the season on Sunday night at the Alabama Soccer Complex. The Crimson Tide scored two goals in the first half and held the Bulldog offense scoreless for the final 88 minutes of the contest.
After falling behind early in the first two minutes of the match, Alabama answered back with a goal from Taylor Morgan, her first of her career, to tie the game at 1-1. The Crimson Tide struck again, after a 37-minute lightning delay, when Kayla Mouton netted her second goal of the season to give Bama the 2-1 lead, which proved to be the difference in the game. Celia Jimenez Delgado and Emma Welch were also credited with an assist apiece in the match.
Alabama returns to the pitch at 7 p.m. Thursday to take on the South Florida Bulls at the Alabama Soccer Complex.
