Alabama soccer defeated No. 6/4 Florida State, 1-0, on Sunday after claiming its first shutout victory of the season.

Freshman forward Taylor Morgan was recognized as the SEC Freshman of the Week after notching the game-winning goal and her first game-winner for the Crimson Tide.

The game remained scoreless until the 55th minute when freshman Casey Wertz dribbled up the wing to find Morgan open at the top of the box, eventually leading to her score.

Morgan’s lone goal marks the Crimson Tide’s first defeat over the Seminoles in the series between the two. The victory also marks Alabama’s second win over an ACC opponent in school history.

Morgan ended the game with three shots, two of which were on goal. She recorded her second career goal and her first game-winner at Alabama.

The Tide will travel to Mobile for their match up against South Alabama on Friday with the first kick at 7:30 p.m. CT.
