University of Alabama swimmers Zane Waddell and Laurent Bams competed at the 2017 World University Games this past week in Taipei, Taiwan.
Waddell represented South Africa and led his team to an eighth-place finish in the championship final of the 400-meter freestyle. Waddell finished in 15th place in the 50-meter butterfly and also competed in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle.
Bams swam for the Netherlands and competed in the 50- and 100-meter butterfly and freestyle events with his best finish coming in the 100-meter freestyle where he came in 29th place.
Waddell, Bams and the rest of the Alabama swimming and diving team will return to action on Sept. 15 at Delta State.
