HOUSTON, Texas – Alabama women’s tennis concluded action at the Rice Invitational on Sunday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center in Houston, Texas.
Sophomore Jacqueline Pelletier and senior Smith Hinton were perfect in singles and won their respective flights after three days of competition. In her first invitational competing for the Crimson Tide, Pelletier took down Anna Wichert of UTA , 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-2, for the Flight 4 title and Hinton downed Jessica Cortes of USF, 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 for the Flight 3 crown.
Despite falling in the second round of singles play on Saturday, No. 37 junior Andie Daniell bounced back to win her final match of the invitational in straight sets over No. 45 Lindsey Hodge of Rice, 6-4, 6-1.
The Tide went 3-3 in singles play on Sunday to register a 12-6 overall record in singles after three days of competition.
Up Next, Andie Daniell will travel to Los Angeles, Calif. to compete in the ITA All-American Championship Sept. 30-Oct. 8 and the Crimson Tide will head to Auburn, Ala. for the ITA Southern Regional Championships Oct. 19-23.
