TEMPLETON, Calif. — Former Alabama women’s tennis standouts Alexa Guarachi (Chile) and Erin Routliffe (New Zealand) teamed up to play in the doubles main draw in the $60,000 ITF Women’s Circuit Tournament in Templeton, Calif. The pair reached the semifinal round where they fell to Viktorija Golubic and Amra Sadikovic of Switzerland.
The duo defeated Jamie Loeb (USA) and Ashley Weinhold (USA) in round one, 6-1, 3-6, 10-8, and topped Ulrikke Eikeri (Norway) and Camilla Rosatello (Italy) in round two, 6-4, 6-2, before falling to the pairing from Switzerland, 7-5, 6-4.
During their time at Alabama, Guarachi and Routliffe both earned multiple All-American and All-SEC honors. One of the most successful doubles players in Alabama history, Routliffe won back-to-back NCAA Doubles Championships (2014-15) and finished as the runner-up in last year’s doubles championship match. Guarachi ended her career at the Capstone with 109 victories in singles, which is the most wins ever recorded by a singles player in Alabama history, and wrapped up her doubles campaign with teammate Courtney McLane with 69 wins, which tops the Tide’s all-time doubles list.
