BIRMINGHAM – After notching the game-winning goal on Thursday that shutout Arkansas on the road, redshirt freshman forward Chloe Maize was tabbed SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the Southeastern Conference office on Monday.
After the first half ended in a deadlock, Maize tallied her second goal of the season, and the first game-winner of her career, in the 74th minute to propel the Crimson Tide over the Razorbacks, 1-0. Maize’s clutch goal solidified Alabama’s first conference road win of the season and snapped a two-game losing streak to Arkansas.
Alabama will take on Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi, on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. before heading to Orange Beach for the first round of the 2017 SEC Tournament. Thursday’s match with the Rebels will air live on SEC Network +.
