Alabama baseball announced its full 2018 schedule on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide will face nonconference series against major conference opponents Washington State and Oklahoma to highlight the early season schedule.

“It’s stiff. I think that’s probably as tough a nonconference schedule as you’ll see in our league,” coach Brad Bohannon said. “Playing a Pac-12 opponent in the second week, then going out to Oklahoma. I think it’s important for us to go on the road. I think you have to do that one time just to get ready for going on the road in the SEC, and obviously from an RPI perspective. New Mexico State has a great club. The head coach there, Brian Green, I coached with him at Kentucky for five years. They’ll be very talented and very well-coached. We’ll be really tested early but I think that’ll help us once we get into league play.”

Bohannon will make his debut for Alabama with a three-game series against Valparaiso from Feb. 16-18. Alabama opens the season with seven straight home games before a trip to Samford for a midweek game. UA’s first road trip of the season is a three-game series against Oklahoma from March 2-4. The Sooners made the NCAA tournament last season.

“I like that we’re going to Oklahoma,” first baseman Hunter Alexander said. “That’s just cool that we get to go out there and experience something like that. It’s somebody not from the state of Alabama or really close, so we’re excited about that. That and Washington State coming in here.”

The Crimson Tide won’t have to venture out of the state for any midweek games. Alabama will continue its nonconference series against Auburn in Montgomery at Riverwalk Stadium, and will play two games against UAB. One will be in Tuscaloosa, while one will be at Regions Field in Birmingham.

Alabama will conclude its season with 10 straight weekends against conference opponents, including the last six against its SEC West competition. The 2018 SEC tournament will be held in Hoover from May 22-27.

TV broadcasts and game times will be announced at a later date.
