The Alabama men’s cross country team moved up one spot to No. 2 while the women’s team climbed five spots to No. 4 in the latest U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region rankings released Monday.

The Crimson Tide runners are coming off of strong performances at last Friday’s SEC Cross Country Championships. The Tide men finished second and junior Vincent Kiprop won the men’s individual title to lead a sweep of the top three spots as fellow UA juniors Gilbert Kigen and Alfred Chelanga finished second and third, respectively. The Alabama women finished seventh to post their fifth-straight top-seven finish at the conference meet.

Both teams will next compete at the NCAA South Regional on Nov. 10 at the Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa.
