TUSCALOOSA — Alabama’s Leah Lawrence was recognized for her stellar senior season on the court in 2017, earning Honorable Mention All-South Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
The honor is the first of Lawrence’s career and Alabama’s 12th since the All-Region designation started in 2007. Ten of those 12 honorees have come under head coach Ed Allen, with the Tide putting at least one player on the list every year since 2013.
All-Region honorees are now eligible to earn AVCA All-America accolades, which will be announced later this month. The winners will be honored at the AVCA All-America/Players of the Year Banquet in conjunction with the group’s annual convention Dec. 13-17 in Kansas City, Mo.
