BIRMINGHAM – Alabama junior Laurent Bams was named the Southeastern Conference Swimmer of the Week following a four-win performance in the Crimson Tide’s road victory at Florida State the league office announced Tuesday.
Bams won the 100 breaststroke with a 53.97, nearly a second ahead of the field. He also won the 200 breaststroke by nearly two seconds with a career-best 1:59.41. He is currently ranked second in the conference in the 100 breaststroke.
In addition to his individual races, Bams swam on both of the Tide’s winning relays, swimming the breaststroke leg on the 200 medley relay and the anchor leg on the 200 freestyle relay.
