Alabama gymnastics moved up two spots in the latest rankings after falling at LSU this past weekend, 197.450 to 196.725, on the road. It is now No. 7 and holds an average score of 196.308 three meets into the season.

Last Friday marked Alabama’s second straight 196-plus score this season. It has been increasing its team score ever since starting off with a 195.675 at Michigan.

Meanwhile, after just two meets, Oklahoma is the new No. 1 team with a 197.538 average. LSU got bumped to No. 2 with a 197.283 and Utah is No. 3 with a 197.142.

UCLA and Florida are fourth and fifth with averages of 196.917 and 196.45, in order.

The Crimson Tide is in the top 10 on three events. It is sixth on the uneven bars (49.233) and balance beam (tied, 49.142), 10th on the floor exercise (tied, 49.05) and 19th on vault (48.883).

Oklahoma is on top of each event ranking but one. Utah is first on floor.

As for the individuals, Alabama has just one gymnast nationally ranked within the top 10 right now. Senior Kiana Winston is sixth on bars with a 9.908 average and tied for eighth on beam with a 9.829 average. Her high on each event so far is a 9.925 and a 9.9, respectively.

Winston was named SEC Specialist of the Week after both of the Crimson Tide’s first two meets. The honor is normally released on Tuesdays.
