CLEMSON, S.C. – The Alabama track and field teams wrapped up two days of competition at the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson, S.C. on Saturday with victories in the women’s 600 meters, women’s triple jump and the men’s high jump.

Junior Tamara Moncrieffe won the triple jump with a leap of 42-0 (12.80m). The mark ranks No. 6 all-time at Alabama. Freshman Jaimie Robinson finished third at 41-3 ¼ (12.58m), which is the No. 10 all-time mark at UA. Senior Kaitlin Walker finished as the top collegian in the 600 meters in a school-record time of 1:31.50. Walker now owns five of UA’s 10-fastest times in the event.

Other highlights for the women included freshmen Tamara Clark (23.40) and Daija Lampkin (23.46) posting two of the fastest times in history as they finished second and fourth, respectively, in their collegiate debuts at 200 meters. Clark’s time is No. 2 in school history behind only Pauline Davis’ 30-year-old school-record of 22.76. Lampkin’s time equals the fourth-fastest ever run at Alabama.

“We did a few good things this weekend,” Alabama head coach Dan Waters said following the meet. “Our triple jumpers and high jumpers competed well and it showed in the results. Kaitlin ran well in the 600 meters and we have some things we can build off of in other areas. The key is staying focused and competing at a high level moving forward. We have a couple of tough meets coming up to end the regular season so we need to be at our best.”

For the Tide men on Saturday, junior Shelby McEwen won the high jump with a clearance of 7-3. The mark equals the No. 2 all-time clearance at Alabama, second only to Jeff Woodward’s 37-year-old school record of 7-7 ¾ (2.33m). On the track, juniors Vincent Kiprop (8:07.10) and Gilbert Kigen (8:12.55) finished 2-3 in the 3,000 meters. Fellow junior Alfred Chelanga was seventh in 8:16.24. Kigen’s time is a personal best.
