Alabama women remain undefeated

The Alabama women’s tennis team is off to its hottest start since 2009, after shutting out Belmont, 7-0, and UAB, 4-0, on Sunday at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.

The Crimson Tide (7-0) remains undefeated after blanking its fifth opponent of the season.

“Overall, I was very pleased with our match Friday evening at Central Florida, which catapulted our confidence to the matches today,” head coach Jenny Mainz said. “All the girls are playing with more confidence and we are getting better. It’s a long season and we need these matches to get better, get some wins and knock some rust off. This weekend was good for our team because it was a test. We knew it was going to be a hard weekend, but the girls are troupers. I am proud of the way the team is competing and we will keep getting better.”

Up next, the Crimson Tide will host another pair of matches Feb. 3. Alabama is set to face Chattanooga at 10 a.m. CT and will compete against Alabama A&M at 4 p.m. CT at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.
