PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CALIF. – The Alabama women’s golf team is tied for third place at 8-over par, after an opening round 292 performance Sunday in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the par-71, 6,017-yard Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
Individually, sophomore Kristen Gillman is one shot back in a tie for second place after a 2-under par 69 opening round. Senior Lakareber Abe shot a 2-over par 73 and is tied for 19th. Junior Lauren Stephenson carded a 3-over par 74 and is tied for 32nd place. Junior Cheyenne Knight finished with a 5-over par 76 and is tied for 53rd. Freshman Angelica Moresco (78) is 7-over par and tied for 64th.
Arizona and Arizona State (285) top the leaderboard after both finished the opening round at 1-over par. The Tide (292) shares third place with UCLA at 8-over par while Northwestern (293) is one shot back in fifth place at 9-over par.
The second round of the 54-hole tournament will begin at 11 a.m. CT on Monday.
