The Alabama softball team is ranked inside the top 10 in both major polls after a 3-0 start to the season. The Crimson Tide is ranked No. 9 in both the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 and in the USA Today/NFCA coaches poll.
Alabama moved up two spots in the coaches poll and one in the USA Softball poll.
Alabama won its three games to open the season by a combined 24-0 margin: 1-0 over South Alabama, 10-0 over Penn State and 13-0 over Lamar. UA played at South Alabama in Mobile and faced the other two teams in Gulf Shores in the Sand Dollar Classic, with Saturday’s and Sunday’s games canceled due to weather.
Alabama will play in the Black and Gold Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss., this weekend. UA will play host Southern Miss on Friday, face 24th-ranked McNeese State and Mississippi Valley State on Saturday and play No. 11 Baylor on Sunday.
