RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico — Senior Lee Hodges is in second overall and junior Davis Riley is in third after the opening round of the Puerto Rico Classic on Sunday at the Rio Mar Country Club. As a team, the No. 1-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide enters Monday’s second round in seventh place with a team total of 2-over par 286.

Hodges led the way for the Tide on the par 71, 6,716-yard Ocean Course, as he recorded a bogey-free round of 4-under par 67 to end the day in second overall. The Ardmore, Tenn., native recorded a pair of birdies to go along with an eagle on the 490-yard par 5 fifth hole to finish the day five strokes back of clubhouse leader Stephen Franken of North Carolina State, who shot a tournament record of 9-under 62.
