COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Alabama recorded best-ever finishes in two events at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field championships on the final day competition on Saturday.
Junior Shelby McEwen (7-6) finished third in the men’s high jump while senior Daniel Haugh finished fourth in the men’s weight throw, both earning All-America status in the process.
The performances also clinched Alabama’s second consecutive top-10 finish in the NCAA team standings. The Crimson Tide men finished ninth with 22 points this year to follow up on an eighth-place finish in 2017, marking the first back-to-back top-10s for the Crimson Tide men since 2001 (fourth) and 2002 (second).
Haugh finished fourth in the weight throw (74-11).
Florida won the men’s team title with 40 points.
The Crimson Tide women tied for 45th with three points. Georgia won the women’s team title with 61 points.
