Alabama baseball enters a two-game midweek series with Alabama A&M with a chance to continue some early-season momentum. The Crimson Tide (13-3) is 4-0 in its midweek games and hasn’t won six straight midweek games since 2014.

Alabama A&M sits at 5-10 this season and is 0-5 all-time against Alabama.

Midweek games have given the Crimson Tide issues in recent seasons. Alabama was 7-5 in midweek games in 2016, when the Crimson Tide narrowly missed the NCAA tournament. Alabama was 6-5 last year, including 2-5 against in-state opponents during Tuesday and Wednesday games.

Pitching has given Alabama a boost during midweek games early this season. Redshirt freshman Garret Rukes has started three games and been followed by redshirt sophomore Brock Love. Both players had elbow surgery during the 2017 season that ended their year early. Neither has allowed a run this year.

Rukes has thrown seven innings while allowing three hits and two walks. Love has given up three hits and two walks in six innings.
