The regular season is officially over. Alabama gymnastics heads into postseason ranked sixth in the nation. Its Regional Qualifying Score is a 197.165.
This week, the Crimson Tide will head to St. Louis for the 2018 SEC Championships after finishing out its conference schedule with a 6-2 record. SECs will feature two sessions, one at 2 p.m. and the other at 6 p.m. Both will be Saturday.
Last year, Alabama finished third at SECs. LSU won, and Florida took second.
Speaking of the Tigers and Gators, they are the only two SEC teams above the Crimson Tide in the rankings right now. LSU is No. 2 with a 197.89 RQS and Florida is No. 5 with a 197.365 RQS. Kentucky is down at No. 9 with a 196.8 RQS, and all other SEC teams are outside the top 10.
Otherwise, Oklahoma remains at the top of the list with a 198.12 – the Sooners most recently beat the Crimson Tide in Coleman Coliseum, 197.925 to 197.15, last Friday – as LSU, UCLA (197.84 RQS), Utah (197.54 RQS) and Florida follow in order.
As for each event, Alabama is fifth on the uneven bars (49.415 RQS), sixth on vault (49.275 RQS) and balance beam (49.34 RQS) and then 11th on the floor exercise (49.3 RQS).
Nickie Guerrero is individually ranked eighth on beam with a 9.92 RQS. Fellow senior Kiana Winston is 10th on bars with a 9.92 RQS. They are both tied for their respective spots.
