ATHENS, Ga. – Cheyenne Knight equaled her career low with an opening-round 65 as the Alabama women’s golf team has a 12-shot lead after 36 holes on Friday’s first day of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at University of Georgia Golf Club in Athens, Ga.
Knight (65-71/136) started the day with a tournament-leading 65 in the first round and followed that up with a second-round one-under par to move out to a three-shot lead at 8-under par heading into Saturday’s final round. Lauren Stephenson (71-69/140) ended the day tied for fifth at 4-under. Kristen Gillman (70-71/141) is in seventh place at 3-under par. Angelica Moresco (70-75/145) is tied for 13th at 1-over par. Lakareber Abe (76-79/155) is tied for 46th at 11-over par. Alabama’s Nicole Morales (74-75/149) is playing unattached and is tied for 27th at 5-over par.
Alabama (276-286/562) holds the lead at 14-under, followed by Arkansas (290-284/574) at 2-under.
