Junior Mazen Osama is the first Alabama tennis player since 2001 to earn All-American honors after qualifying as a top 16 national seed in the NCAA singles tournament.

Osama and sophomore partner Edson Ortiz also qualified for the NCAA doubles tournament. Both tournaments will be May 23-28 in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Osama (15-7) is ranked the No. 18 singles player in the country, including nine wins over nationally ranked opponents.

In doubles, Osama and Ortiz (16-7) are ranked No. 30 with two wins over nationally ranked opponents.

The last Alabama tennis player to earn All-American honors was then-sophomore Maxim Belski in 2001. He finished 21-12 in singles play and ended the year at No. 19 in the final ITA rankings.
