STILLWATER, Okla. – After a rain-shortened day, the Alabama men’s golf team will have to return early Saturday to finish its first round at the NCAA Championships.

The Crimson Tide ended its first day at 3-over par through Nos. 13-17. Alabama is tied for 11th with Illinois, Duke and Central Florida. Northwestern leads the field after posting an 8-under 280 in the morning group.

A three-and-a-half hour weather delay softened the course, but it also hurt on the longer holes. The course’s soft conditions helped most, as the highest team score was Augusta’s 10-over.

Jonathan Hardee led the Crimson Tide, shooting a 1-under thru 15 holes. Davis Riley and Lee Hodges shot 1-over rounds. Riley will begin Saturday on No. 14 while Hodges will start on No. 15. Wilson Furr has one hole left in his first round, and is at 2-over.

Davis Shore rounds out the Crimson Tide lineup, as he posted a 3-over through 16 holes.

Alabama will resume its second round at 7 a.m. in a shotgun start. After all teams complete their first rounds, the course will be set up for the second-round hole and tee locations, and play will begin after. The Crimson Tide will tee off at 8:22 a.m. on the 10th tee and play alongside Vanderbilt and Florida.

“I thought (our team) did a really good job,” Alabama coach Jay Seawell said. “The greens were really chewed up at the very end. We’ve got some things we have got to do better. We need to make a few more putts and make birdies.”
