BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Alabama freshmen Daija Lampkin and Tamara Clark finished second and fourth, respectively, in the women’s 100 meters on the opening day of the USA Track & Field Junior Outdoor Championships in Bloomington, Ind. Friday.

Lampkin’s finish earns her a spot on the United States’ Under-20 team that will compete in the IAAF U-20 World Championships next month in Tampere, Finland. Clark and Lampkin will also make the squad as members of the team’s 4×100-meter relay.

In Friday’s race, Lampkin crossed the finish line in 11.34 earn the runner-up spot behind winner Twanisha Terry of USC (11.24). Clark (11.364) was edged out for third place in a photo finish with Florida State’s Jayla Kirkland (11.363).

Lampkin and Clark will be in action again on Saturday in first round of the 200 meters. The top eight finishers will advance to Sunday’s final.
