Former Alabama tennis players Alexa Guarachi and Erin Routliffe are scheduled to compete in the opening round of women’s doubles play at Wimbledon on Wednesday. The pair will take on the Czech Republic’s Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova, the third-seeded team in the field of 128, at 5:30 a.m. CT.
Guarachi and Routliffe won two qualifying matches to earn their way into the main draw. They defeated Priscilla Hon and Arantxa Rus 6-3, 7-5 in the first qualifying match, then took down Anna Kalinskaya and Viktoria Kuzmova 6-4, 6-4 to advance.
